Kokeshi Benitsubaki
Kokeshi made and hand painted by the award-winning artist Masae Fujikawa, who won the "Prime Minister" award in 1996 and 2002 and the "Minister of Agriculture, forestry and Fishery" award in 1995 and 1996.
The name of this kokeshi is Benitsubaki which in Japanese means "red camellia", a flower that in Japan symbolizes love. In fact, three camellias are painted on his beautiful red kimono. The wood used for the creation of this kokeshi is Mizuki (Japanese dogwood). The kokeshi is 17.5cm tall and 8.5cm in diameter. It is accompanied by a small wooden plaque, with his name, the name and the stamp of the craftsman who made it. Original packaging is included, stamped and signed by the artist who created the kokeshi.
