Porcelain wind bell (Fūrin) with cardboard strip tied to the clapper depicting a Jizo. Jizo is the Japanese name of a popular Buddhist deity commonly represented as a monk.
Measure: height 7cm.
Hanging under a porch, on a veranda, in a plant outside or in the lowest branch of a tree, when the wind blows it will start to tinkle and will give your home or garden a right Japanese atmosphere. The fuurin are much loved by the Japanese as in summer these bells with their sweet and delicate sound make the hot and sultry days less heavy and oppressive. Furthermore, the Japanese think that their sweet sound floating and dancing in the wind can keep evil spirits away from homes.
