Kokeshi Rainy
Kokeshi Rainy
Kokeshi made and hand painted by the award-winning artist Oki Izumi, born in 1956 in the prefecture of Gunma, daughter of the great master Sansaku Sekiguchi. Her kokeshi are rare and rich in details, they are pyrograph engraved, and differ from those of other artists for their femininity and accuracy of details (the expression of the face, the clips in the hair, the decoration of the kimono and especially of the obi).
This doll wears a beautiful kimono, on which hydrangea flowers are engraved and painted, with an obi with a large bow on the back and a delightful clip on her head also with hydrangea. In Japan, hydrangea is the flower linked to the rain that usually lasts from June to mid-July, in this period of early summer the Japanese love to walk in the gardens in full bloom admiring the beauty of the hydrangeas, serenely experiencing the melancholy of the rain for the lack of the sun.
Original packaging is included, stamped and signed by the artist who created the kokeshi.
This doll is 15cm tall and 6cm wide.
