Kokeshi made and hand painted by the award-winning artist Masae Fujikawa, who won the "Prime Minister" award in 1996 and 2002 and the "Minister of Agriculture, forestry and Fishery" award in 1995 and 1996.
The name of this kokeshi is Michiyuki which in Japanese, in addition to indicating an overcoat with a square neckline, used by Japanese women over the kimono to protect themselves from the cold, also means "travel".
There are three sizes of this same model and this is the largest model.
The wood used for the creation of this kokeshi is Mizuki (Japanese dogwood). The kokeshi stands approximately 24cm tall and 12cm in diameter. It is accompanied by a wooden plaque, with its name, the name and the stamp of the craftsman who made it.
