Kokeshi made especially for Japanese craftsmanship, by the artist Etsuko Tokumaru. Born in Edogawa, Tokyo, in 1956, she began making kokeshi towards the end of her thirties under the guidance of artist Fumiko Ikari. For her works she has been awarded several prizes, won at the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 and one won in 2017 at the All Japan Kokeshi Contest Gunma event.
The kokeshi made by Etsuko Tokumaru are very colorful, full of details, smiling and express a lot of joy and happiness.
The name of this kokeshi is Fuyu which in Japanese means "winter". The kokeshi has an oval shape and has been meticulously crafted with care, finely engraved and hand painted.
It is very colorful and has been painted with snowflakes and stars.
It is 10cm high and has a diameter of 5.5cm, comes with a wooden base and the original packaging is included, stamped and signed by the artist.
